[DigitalToday reporter Jin-ho Lee] KT, SK Broadband and LG Uplus, the three IPTV operators, introduced a VOD gift voucher on Feb. 25 that can be used on any of the three platforms.
The newly launched voucher can be registered on any IPTV platform. Users can enter the voucher number in the IPTV menu, which converts it into a payment method on each platform to access VOD content such as films and dramas.
The three IPTV operators did not limit the voucher’s use to a specific provider, allowing a single voucher to be used on the IPTV platform of choice. They said this increases the voucher’s versatility and simplifies the process for users.
The three IPTV operators will also gradually expand distribution channels for the voucher. Corporate customers can buy it through Giftishow Biz for corporate giveaways and employee welfare. For general customers, sales will be rolled out sequentially through online channels such as Gmarket and 11st.
To mark the launch, Giftishow Biz will run a 20 percent discount promotion through March 24. The voucher lineup consists of 5 types, including a 5,500-won voucher.
Kang Yoon-mook (강윤묵), secretary general of the Korea IPTV Broadcasting Association, said, "The three IPTV operators will continue to strengthen cooperation to enhance viewing convenience and service quality in line with the changing media environment."
